A sunny afternoon view of HKG can be seen in this
picture. A Malaysian Airlines A330-322 (9M-MKI)
was parked just outside the terminal building. Some
other aircraft like China Eastern Airlines A300-600R (B-2325),
Qantas B747-400, Virgin Atlantic A340-300, Cathay Pacific
Cargo B747s in old and new colors were all parked on
the HKG apron on March 7, 1997 at about 1720.

The aerodrome shown here is situated on the south-east
side of the airport. It has 11 parking bays. The picture
shows a number of B747s. From left to right, there parked
Cathay Pacific Cargo B747-200F VR-HVZ, then Air Hong Kong
B747-200F VR-HME, a Northwest Cargo B747-200F, Singapore
B747-400 MegaTop and a Cathay Pacific A340-300 VR-HXC faraway.
This part of the airport apron is usually for long-term
parking, maintainance and cargo operations.
This photo was taken on August 30, 1996 at about 1100
on the Kowloon Bay pedestrian flyover.

This photo showed the apron outside the terminal building.
The aircraft parked just outside the terminal was a
Philippine Airlines A300B4 RP-C3005. The aircraft behind
was a QANTAS B747-400, just arriving from Sydney. A Gulf Air
B767-300ER parked next to the QANTAS B747 and was ready
to take off to Bangkok. The building faraway was HACTL, which
stands for Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminal Limted. There were
a few freighters parking outside the cargo terminal; this
included Air Hong Kong B747-200F, Northwest Cargo
B747-200F, FedEx Md11F and UPS B747F.
This photo was taken at the 2/F restaurant
of Kai Tak on August,1996 at about 1700. .

In the photo, there parked two freighters, Air France Cargo
and Martinair. The Air France Cargo had no red strip on
the logo. This looked like an Air France ASIE, which used
to fly to Taipei. The B747-200F, was registered as F-GCBM.
Air France Cargo has 3 weekly flights from Paris. Martinair
has flights to HKG weekly. It usually uses B747s, while
sometimes uses MD11Fs.
This photo was taken on the carpark roof of
Richlands Garden on October 17, 1996 at about 1700.

around 1015 in the morning (HKG Time).
A Cathay Pacific B747-400 (the one with the old-color scheme) was moving towards the runway, ready for departure. Another two B747-400 with new-color scheme were parked outside the passenger terminal.
Hiding behind the two B747-400s were an A330-300 and a Philippines B747-400. Aircrafts parked next to the passenger terminal includes a China Airlines A300, Thai Int'l A330-300 and a Cathay Pacific B747.

This photo was taken on July 17, 1995,
around 1545 in the afternoon (HKG Time).
From this photo, you will find out that there was hardly
a non-Cathay Pacific aircraft parked in HKG. Then, you are wrong!
An All Nippon Airways B767-300ER was parked next to
the passenger terminal. You can find it out on the top of the photo.
A Cathay Pacific B747-400 was parked next to a Cathay Pacific Tristar.
On the right hand side of the photo, it was the HAECO, which stands
for Hongkong Aircraft Engineering Company. There was a Cathay Pacific
Airbus parked inside. On the top of the photo was the passenger
terminal of HKG. There were 8 parking bays next to the terminal.

What you saw above is the South Apron of HKG. There
always have planes that are parked overnight, cargo operations,
or some maintenance. In the photo, a SAS Scandinavian
Airlines B767-300ER and a Virgin Atlantic Airways A340-300
parked there. Originally, the Virgin A340 should not be there
in that morning, but it had some engine problem in the previous
night. Therefore, it stayed overnight that day. The photo
was taken in Kowloon Bay on August 30, 1996 at about 1100.
