You can find aircrafts in Asia Pacific and Africa which now serve HKG,
or had served HKG before. All photos below are taken by me,
Christopher from HKG, unless otherwise stated. They are taken

Pacific East Asia Cargo has daily cargo flights from Subic
Bay, arriving in the early morning and departing at night.
It uses BAe146 and this is one of their planes, RP-C481.

Philippine Airlines usually uses A300B4s to fly between
HKG and Cebu. This A300B4, RP-C3005, was arriving from
Cebu in the morning. This photo was taken in late-June 1997.

Philippine Airlines seldom has B737s flying into
HKG. It usually has such B737s on additional
holiday flights or charter flights. This B737-300,
was photographed in March 1997.

Philippine Airlines now uses A330-300s, A340s, B747-400s,
B747-200s and MD11s to serve between HKG and Manila.
This one is a B747-200, N742PR, ready to depart for Manili,

Philippine Airlines nearly has one B747-400 flying
into HKG every day. This one had just arrived from
Manila in the morning. The B747-400, N752PR, parked
outside HAECO for loading and unloading of passengers.

its conversion work at HAECO. It arrived HKG on
June 6, 1997 and had its conversion work at HAECO
till next month. The other photo, showing the aircraft
in white colors parking inside HAECO. The plane
was a B747SR A7-ABL.

Mandarin Airlines is the sister airline of China Airlines. It flies to
HKG in China Airlines flight. This is one of the B747SP of Mandarin
Airlines. This photo was taken in mid-June, 1997.

Japan Airlines DC10-40 JA8531 was departing HKG on RWY13. JAL

Korean Air has A330-300s and B777-200s entered services
at the same perios, in 1997. This one, HL7551, was arriving from
Seoul in the morning. This photo was taken in early-July 1997.

Korean Air started its B777 services in early 1997. It has
weekly flights from Seoul using B777-200. Its B777s are
all fitted with Pratt and Witney turbofans. This B777-200,
HL7520, was taken in June 1997.

There are no more MD11 flying to HKG. All Korean Air's
MD11 will be progressively converted to freighters MD11F.

Malaysia Airlines received its first B777-200 in June 1997. This
B777 was seen in June 1997. It mainly flies regional routes, in addition
to some European destinitions. The B777-200, 9M-MHB, just flew
into HKG for its IGS approach. This photo was taken in June 1997.

China Airlines has no more aircraft in old colors flying to HKG.
All aircraft into HKG are now in new colors. This aircraft, A300B4,
B-192 was one of the last aircraft in old colors to HKG. This photo
was taken in one of the evenings of May 1997.

China Airlines B747-400 B-184 in new colors was turning for
its final approach to RWY13 from Taipei. Its B747-400, together
with the entire fleet fly to HKG on its frequent HKG-Taipei and
HKG-Kaohsiung route. This photo was taken in June 1997.

China Eastern Airlines F100 landed successfully on RWY13!.
These are two successive shots on the landing of the China
Eastern F100. MU has daily flights from Shanghai, Hangzhou
Ningbo, Fuzhou etc. This photo was taken by Patrick in 1997.

Cathay Pacific Cargo B747-400F VR-HUH was approaching
and was clear to land RWY13. This plane will soon be in B-prefix.

Grandair started services to HKG in 1996, using A300s. It now
has daily flights from Manila. This A300, RP-C8883, was arriving
HKG from Manila and the photo was taken in late-June 1997.

Air Lanka usually flew A340-300s to HKG from Columbo via Bangkok.
It seldom has L1011 Tristars to HKG nowadays, although it flew many
of them in the past years. This aircraft visited HKG on May 15, 1997
evening and the photo was taken on the same evening.

Air Mauritius has joint venture services with Cathay Pacific on the
HKG-Mauritius route. The route uses Air Mauritius aircraft, B767-200ER,
two flights weekly. This one is one of the Air Mauritius B767s, 3B-NAK.

Asiana B747-400 moved towards the HKG terminal building for parking.
Asiana uses B747-400 and B767-300ER to serve the HKG-Seoul route.
This B747-400, HL7418, was one of its all 400-series B747s.

This is not an ordinary Atlas Air B747-200. This one had something
special. The "ATLAS AIR" wordings was in yellow color. The others
are not. The B747-200F, N509MC was parked outside HACTL for

Cathay Pacific A340-300 VR-HXA was moving towards holding
point 13 and was ready to depart HKG using RWY13. This
A340-300 had not yet been re-registered as B- prefix; but now

was painted to celebrate Hong Kong's Handover on July 1, 1997.

Ansett Australia, celebrating its Sydney 2000 Olympic Games,
painted one of it B747-300 in this special color scheme. The
aircraft was first seen in HKG mid-June 1997. Ansett Australia
is the official airline for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.

Ansett Australia B767-300ER! It is a very unusual visitor!
This plane is mainly used on Sydney-Shanghai-Sydney,
Sydney-Osaka-Brisbane-Sydney, and Sydney-Jarkarta-Kuala Lumpur
as well. Therefore, it can be seen more in Asia than
in Australia. The aircraft basically served Asia only.
It does no domestic routes at all in Australia, and VH-RMC,
a 767-200ER is only used for international runs
on those flights mentioned, in support of the 747-300s.
This B767-300ER, VH-BZF, visited HKG on June 8, 1997 at 1830.
Ansett Australia has 5 weekly flights from Sydney, using B747-300.
This plane was photographed on the same day in HKG.

Biman Bangladesh has 2 weekly flights from Dhaka, using
DC10-30. This one, S2-ACO, was named as City of
Hazrat-Shan Makhdoom (R.A.). This photo was taken in June, 1997.

Qatar Airways had one plane coming to HKG for maintenance
in HAECO in June 1997. This B747SR, A7-ABL, came to HKG
on June 6, 1997 at 0700. Noting that this B747SR was fitted
with General Electric CF6 torbofans.

Singapore Airlines B747-300 seldom flew to HKG. This was the
exceptional case because this was a leased flight from Cathay Pacific.
Cathay Pacific had Trent 700 problems in June 1997, so CX leased
a SIA B747-300 to solve the lack of planes' problem. This one, was
seen in June 1997 and was registered as N122KH.

Thai Airways now has 2 B747-300s in its fleet. It seldom flies
to HKG. In mid-1997, it flies only weekly to HKG. This one,
HS-TGE, was one of the two B747-300s of Thai Airways.
Noting that this B747-300 was fitted
with General Electric CF6 torbofans similar to that of B747-400.

Mandarin Airlines made its final IGS approach to HKG.
This MD11 used to be from China Airlines; but now, nearly
all MD11s are now in Mandarin colors. It always fly to HKG
from Taipei together with its B747-400s and B747Sps.

Oman Government was a usual visitor among the non-scheduled
aircraft. It had been seen in HKG several times. This one visited
HKG on June 8, 1997 at about 1800. It usually stays in HKG for a few
days, parking near Choi Hung. This picture was taken on the same day.

Royal Australian Air Force used to have one to two yearly visit
to HKG, but mainly B707. This time, it used a Falcon 900 in
June 1997. It usually has a few repeating-runway-approach,
probably for runway checking. This Falcon, A26-077, visited HKG
on June 11, 1997 morning and the photo was taken on the same day.

Air India has quite many types of aircraft coming to HKG,
B747-300Combi, B747-200 and A310-300. It usually has
B747 when their flight continues to go to or from Osaka.
This one, B747-300Combi, VT-EPX, was named as
Narasimilia Varman. This photo was taken in June 1997.

Japan Air System, the third largest Japanese airline, flew to HKG
since June 1997. It has four weekly flights from Osaka Kansai,
using A300-600R. This photo was taken in June 1997.

Japan Asia Airways has B767-300 since early 1997.
It usually flies on Taipei , Hong Kong and Bangkok
routes. It is believed that the B767-300s are to
replace the existing DC10-40s. This photo was
taken in early 1997 in HKG and the aircraft was JA8264.

This was one of the old B737-200s of Dragonair. Now, there
are no more of this type of aircraft in Dragonair's fleet.
The B737-200s were all replaced by the more advanced Airbus
Industrie A320-200. The B737-200s were used for regional routes.

El Al seldom has B747 flying to HKG. It only has B747-200s
services during holidays. El Al now has one weekly flight
direct from Tel Aviv. The photo shown here was a
B747-200 Combi (reg.no.4X-AXD). Normal flights usually
use a B767-200 aircraft for smaller capacity.

Grand Air has just flew to HKG for less than a year.
It now provides one daily service from Manila using A300B4.
The aircraft was going to depart for Manila in the morning.

Malaysia Airlines now has no more DC-10 flights to HKG.
MAS only uses A330-300s, B737s, B747-400s and MD11s to HKG.
It also used to have A300s to HKG. However, they were all
gone due to replacement of new aircraft. Its DC10 usually
served on routes between HKG and Kuala Lumpur and Penang.

Xiamen Airlines flies a B757-200 daily from Xiamen.
Therefore, it is quite unusual to see a B737 of Xiamen
Airlines in HKG. This aircraft was a non-scheduled flight
for holiday. The flight for this aircraft was for Wuyishan.

Air China flies between HKG and Beijing, together with Dalian
and Tianjin. The B767-300 (B-2558) shown was moving to
RWY13 and was going to depart for Beijing. Air China
usually uses B747-400 on the HKG-Beijing route. The
aircraft was seen in low-capacity seasons. Sometimes,
B747SP, B747-200 and B767-200ER can be
seen when there are not too many passengers.
The photo was taken on March 7, 1997 at about 1720
at HKG International Airport 2/F restaurant.

China Southern Airlines, based in Guangzhou, provides a
comprehensive network of services between HKG and
China Southern cities such as Guangzhou, Kunming,
Shantou, Xiamen etc. The B777-200 of China Southern Airlines
usually flies on the Guangzhou-HKG-Beijing route. The
Guangzhou-Beijing-Amsterdam also flies a B777-200.
She is the only airline in China that has B777-200s at
present. Air China will have B777s soon. The
aircraft shown here is resgistered as B-2054.

China Southwest provides services from a number of
southwestern China cities to HKG. It has services to
Chengdu and Chongqing, flying B737s. Its services
to HKG had once been taken over by China National
Aviation Coporation for about a year.
The pictures shown here, a B737-300 (B-2590), was
photographed on March 8, 1997 at about 1030.

Mandarin Airlines B747-400 (B-16801) seldom visits HKG.
It was originally a regular China AIrlines' flight from Taipei.
Mandarin Airlines is the subsidiary of China Airlines.
She has MD11s, B747SPs and B747-400s.

VNA32001.JPG Vietnam Airlines A320-200

Vietnam Airlines A320-200s are fitted with CFMI turbofans.
They are used to fly regional routes. Vietnam Airlines has
B767s and A320s services to and from HKG. Vietnam
Airlines' services to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City
are all code-shared with Cathay Pacific.

Dragonair A320 was making IGS approach to HKG. It was
turning a degree of 47 to the right to line up with RWY13.
The Airbus, VR-HYV, mainly serves cities in China and Asia.
Dragonair now has 7 A320-231s, and all are leased from ILFC.

Myanmar Airways International provides services
between HKG and Rangoon. It has two weekly flights
from Rangoon to HKG, using a B737-400.
The aircraft, 9M-MMH, is leased from Malaysia Airlines.

Asiana Airlines, based in Seoul, is the second largest airlines in South Korea.
It has 10 flights weekly to and from HKG. It flies B747-400s and B767-300ERs
to HKG. It is rather rare to see a B737-400 in HKG.
This one, B737-4Y0, is registered as HL7259.

Emirates Airlines serves between HKG and Dubai. It now has daily flights
to and from HKG, using A310-300s and B777-200s. Some flights are from
Bangkok and Manila. Emirates sometimes flies A300-600R too.
The aircraft was departing HKG on RWY13 for Dubai.
The photo was taken on January 28, 1997 morning at about 0900.

Korean Airlines Cargo has three weekly flights from South Korean.
Two from Seoul, using B747-200Fs or B747-400Fs; and one from Pusan,
using a A300F. Korean Air Cargo now has two Airbus A300 freighters only.

Korean Airlines has 17 weekly flights to and from HKG.
It flies B747-400s, B747-300s, B747-200s, B747SPs and A300-600s.
This B747-2B5B is leased from ORIX.
It was departing HKG on RWY13 for Seoul. The aircraft is registered as B747-2B5B.

Korean Airlines has no more MD11s flying to HKG. Most of its MD11s
will be converted to freighters. This one was registered as HL7375,
parking outside the terminal building.

Philippine Airlines has four daily flights between HKG and Manila,
with a few more flights from Cebu. The MD11 here is believed
to be leased from World Airways, since it is registered as N277WA.
According to Airlines 1996, it is a MD11ER! Phillippine Airlines
now has anumber of new aircrafts, like A340-300, B747-400 and MD11.
The aircraft just arrived from Manila in the morning,
and was taxiing towards the terminal building.

This the last old-color Air Hong Kong B747-200F seen in Hong Kong.
They are now replaced with the new colors B747-200Fs leased from
Cathay Pacific. This aircraft was registered as VR-HKO
and it had already been out of Air Hong Kong's service.

Air India now uses both A310-300 and B747s to fly between HKG and India.
This is one of the A310-300s flown by Air India. This aircraft is registered
as VT-EQS. This Air India flight was departing for Delhi using RWY13.

Air India now uses a B747-300 to fly the route Delhi-HKG-Osaka.
Air India also flies B747-200s to HKG. This aircraft is registered
as VT-EPX and named as "Narasimila Varman". It was departing HKG using RWY31.

Air Macau A320-200 CS-MAE, NXA32001.JPG

Air Macau is the airline based in Macau. It was owned by
various companies, including TAP Air Portugal and CAAC.
It now has A320-200s and A321-100s to serve various Asian
destinations. This photo was taken on July 26, 1996 in Macau
when the aircraft had just landed Macau from Taipei. The
A320-200 was registered as CS-MAE, and was on lease.
where it was parked. It left on the same day.

CAAC, now broke up into a number of separate arilines,
flied to HKG in one sunny morning. This one, a MD82 B-2132,
is now owned by China Northern Airlines.
China Northern Airlines now also flies MD82 to HKG
from a few cities in Northern China.

CAAC Trident, CATRID01.JPG

CAAC (Civil Aviation Administration of China) was responsible for
all airline operations in mainland China before 1984. Now, it has been
broken up to a number of regional airlines and a flag carrier, Air China.
This Trident, registered as B-2216, and together with other Tridents,
has left CAAC's fleet already. This Trident was now
on the taxiway, and prepared to leave for the Runway 13.

Good news to Spotters! You'll surely be surprised to see this strange Airbus!
This Cathay Pacific A330-342, registered as VR-HYD, was originally
leased to Dragonair earlier this year for routes between Hongkong and Taiwan.
However, the air traffic agreement between Hongkong and Taiwan was delayed.
As a result, CX got back this aircraft and had it serving for Asian routes,
e.g. Singapore and Bangkok. Now, Cathay Pacific re-leased the aircraft
to Dragonair for its new route on Hongkong-Kaohsiung.
Dragonair received the aircraft on July 24, 1996.
Its tail bears the Cathay Pacific 50th anniversary logo,
while its body has its company name, Cathay Pacific, in
the original colors. This aircraft has been leased
to Dragonair again on July 24, 1996.

Cathay Pacific Cargo now has 2 B747-467F SCDs.
This is one of the two B747-400Fs. This one is painted in new colors,
and is registered as VR-HUK. This B747-400F usually flies
to North America, e.g. Vancouver and Los Angeles.

This is a Cathay Pacific B747-467 in old color-scheme. This Cathay Pacific's
B747-400, registered as VR-HUI, together with other B747-400s,
serve mainly on long-haul routes, e.g. Adelaide, Amsterdam, Auckland,
Frankfurt, Hongkong, Johannesburg, Los Angeles, Manchester,
Melbourne, New York, Paris, Toronto and Vancouver.
They also serve some of the high-capcity Asian routes.

Cathay Pacific B777-200 was the first B777 powered by
Rolls-Royce engines. This one, registered as VR-HNC,
now serves on Bangkok, Seoul, Taipei and Tokyo routes.

This is one of the China Airlines B747-400 painted in old colors.
No more old colors China Airlines fly to HKG now.
The B747-409, B-163, flies on high-capacity routes
between Taipei and Hongkong, Los Angeles, and New York.
The photo was taken in 1995 when the China Airlines Dynasty
B747-400 took off from HKG, using RWY 31.

at about 1200. It was on RWY13 and was going to take off.
China Eastern Airlines flies F100s, A300-600Rs, MD11s,
and MD82s to HKG from a number of cities in China.

This Garuda Indonesia Airbus A300-622R is in special color scheme.
Its tail logo's background is in white color instead of blue.

Hongkong-Denpasar,Surabaya, Singapore and Taipei.

JAL has more than 120 flights between HKG and Japan weekly.

Korean Air usually uses B747-400, B747-300, B747-200, B777-200

Korean Air seldom flies a MD82 to HKG. Most of the MD82s
to HKG are charter flights, usually from Pusan. Korean Air MD82

is registered as 9M-MKE. Malaysia usually uses A330 on its HKG-Penang route.

ORBIS, an aircraft company which is not for transporting
passengers nor cargo. It is an airline travelling to various
to help the patients who have problems on their eyes.
The plane inside has lecture rooms, operations rooms for
doing eye operations. ORBIS had a DC8 as their first aircraft,
but they found it not large enough. They now have a DC10.

This Philippines Airlines B747-200, registered as N203AE,
flied to HKG in 1997, around June. The aircraft is leased from MEA.

Qantas B747-438 flied to HKG on its flight from Sydney,
with flight no. QF27. This B747-400, registered as VH-OJG,
and with the other B747-400s serve mainly on long haul routes.
All Qantas B747s are powered by Rolls-Royce engines.

of the rare case. This B747-300, registered as VH-EBX, visited HKG in June 1996.

the place of Cambodia Airlines to serve the route between
HKG and Phnom Penh. His fleet consists of 2 ATR-72s and 2 B737-4H6.

Thai Cargo started it cargo service to HKG just a few months ago.
It now uses a B747 freighter, leased from Atlas Air, to fly on
cargo routes. The freighter, registered as N527MC, was going
to land on HKG from Bangkok in Thursday early morning. This
picture was taken on October 17, 1996 at about 0740.

Transasia is one of the Taiwanese airlines that serves Macau.
It has daily flights to and from Taipei and Kaohsiung. It uses
A320-200s and A321-100s to serve Macau. This photo was
